Data Age Business Systems was founded by Tom Streng and Randy Peffly in 1988, as they identified the need for small businesses to have an easy-to-use point-of-sale and inventory management system. The company has since become recognized as a global leader in small business automation, especially in the pawn industry. They also develop management software servicing second-hand, gold, jewelry, cell phone repair and gun industries. Several of these retail markets have special regulations to keep up with, and the need their software to help them stay in compliance without breaking the bank.
Both individual unit and multi-store businesses rely on the software developed by Data Age for its expertise in point-of-sale (POS) technology, loan management, inventory management, scanning and bar coding products, biometrics, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

Len Summa – Chief Executive OfficerLen joined the Data Age Business Systems, Inc. team in 2012 and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Before becoming Data Age Business Systems’ CEO, Len was Chief Operations Officer (COO) for four years. He has 26 years of experience in executive software solution sales and operational management for both early stage and well-established firms. Prior to his Data Age service, he was the General Manager of global sales and operations at Persystent Software, an industry-leading enterprise recovery software. Len has also served as the Director of North American SMB sales and operations at Learn.com, the preeminent software firm in the learning management space. He has a vast business and entrepreneurial background and was the co-founder of Lou Ferrigno/Fitness Showrooms, a highly successful retail and wholesale chain located throughout the Northeastern United States.
Tom Streng – Chairman of the Board & Co-FounderTom Streng, co-founder and Chairman of the Board at Data Age Business Systems, is responsible for working closely with the executive team on growth and investment strategies for the company. Tom has dedicated nearly thirty years to establishing the company as the leading financial transaction software provider. As a pioneer in the industry, Tom’s expertise is second to none when it comes to understanding the needs of the pawn business, as he continues to actively contribute in several aspects of the operation including new product design, development, strategic partnerships, and go-to-market strategies. He has published works throughout industry journals and has a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Central Michigan University.
Randy Peffly – Executive Vice President & Co-FounderRandy has served as Executive Vice President of Data Age Business Systems since he co-founded the company in 1988. Randy has been responsible for the successful architecture of the Data Age software products, overseeing design, development, and the overall life-cycle management of all applications. He manages all research and quality assurance functions constantly monitoring standards in the delivery of reliable day-to-day service, the ease-of-use, and scalability of our systems. Randy can be credited with incorporating leading-edge technologies into Data Age applications. Randy has a degree in computer science from Wright State University.
