Business Spotlight: Putting People First

As leaders in our community, if your business, our in your industry, we spend a great deal of time working in and with people.  These people have a profound impact on our livelihoods through the work we do with them or through the products and services we deliver.  In turn, our products and services should also have an impact on your employees, customers and any one you come in contact with.  The great leaders, companies and organizations never lose sight of this ever present focus.  You have to put people first no matter what if you want to be successful as a leader or a business owner.

Business Spotlight: Leadership

I am a firm believer that if you own a business or manage a business and you have people depending on you, you are a leader whether you like it or not. Having leadership qualities will transcend into everything you do and will have an impact on people — both at work and outside of work. At times, this impact will be visible but many times it will not be. It does not matter, when people, customers, partners, friends and family depend on you, your leadership always needs to be present. Many of us embrace it and some of us assume it but from a very low-key prospective. I can’t emphasis enough how important it is to help others achieve their goals or solve issues they may be struggling with no matter what the situation may be.

Writing Code is the Easy Part

When I sit down to write a blog about Development, I try to think of something that isn’t going to make people cringe.  Let’s face it, the idea of reading a few paragraphs describing Agile Theory and Program Code workflows isn’t something that have most people on the edge of their seats. However, what I have found is that the process in which we decide on what gets put into these workflows is a better use of your reading time.
