Getting Started with eCommerce

The biggest thing we run into is clients who want to get online and sell their items, they don’t know where to start. The answer is simple; I would seek some professional advice of people within the industry. If you know a software company, you know PawnMaster or somebody else that’s putting items online on a regular basis, get their knowledge, get their advice, pick their brain a little bit with a free consultation, ask them some questions. But start somewhere, start with your highest profit items. Maybe some of your TVs or other items that are going to sell really well, your gaming systems, get started and then continuously grow from there. When we roll this out in stores, we typically will say, “This person has five employees, each person has to post two things online each week.” Just start from there and grow from there. Now it’s going to three next week, now it’s four next week, and you just start to gradually get them to upload more items. It becomes part of their processes and systems. If you contact an expert, they can do it with the software, now you don’t have to do it and it’s not as big of an undertaking for you within your business. So, I would seek out some advice. If you want to do it on your own, start small and build up.
